My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin and bad odor. what could be causing this?

he is a 12lb pekingese. My dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin and bad odor. what could be causing this?
I bet anything he is allergic to his food. Corn and Wheat products are the most common causes of skin allergies, read the food label.

The skin is itchy, flakey and the dog scratches for some releif, but damages the skin so that infection can set in. The bad food has weakened his immune system so he can't fight the infection and now, you are looking at a very unhappy dog.

Read ';Food Pets Die For'; by Ann N. Martin if you don't believe me. You will be shocked and amazed.

You need to take him to the vet, he needs antibiotics to cure the skin, then you need to get him on a better food.

Iams, Purina, and Science Diet are all but poison to dogs, read the book if you don't believe me.

Look into Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Artemis, and Canidae. They are all natural and don't contain gross stuff that is making him sick. They are more expensive but it's worth it in the long run. Less vet bills and illness. He may also live longer.

Good LuckMy dog has hair loss, itching, flaky skin and bad odor. what could be causing this?
It could be eczema, ask for some advice from a vet.
It could be mange (demodetic, caused by mites). You really should take him to the vet.
My dog, which is a cocker spaniel mix has a problem very similar to this. However, I do not have the money for a vet. But I do have a friend who is a vet and she suggested giving her an over the counter vitamin (half a centrum) and two baths a week, always followed by putting triple antibiotic on her skin/fur. I also bought a funnel collar so she could not lick, chew or scratch. It's been a week and really seems to be helping.
STRESS
go to the web address below. i used to work there. it is in dothan, alabama but u can speak to live veterenerans for free and tell them your problem. you can also order it today and it will be at your house within 5 business days.

they are not expensive either...give them a call!

tell them your problem
He probley has skin allergies. Try changing to a dog shampoo that help with all his problems. If that doesn't work ask a vet for some recommended treatments.
alot of things could be those which one of those things would be bad which is : Mange and one of them is catching to a human and i know this cause i got one yr and or time from a dog i had yrs ago and then i had to go to the doctor and get rid of it cause it made my hands itch alots which wasn't fun. Also could dry skin, also stress yes dogs can get stressed too just like us . Have you moved recently or are you moving or planning on moving ? Best advice i can give is TAKE YOU PET TO SEE A VET AND SOON.
Does he have fleas? He could have a skin allergy. I would consult a vet. My sister has a Pit Bull who has Flea Allergy Dermatitis or something like that and it caused itchy red skin that had bumps and there was a lot of hair loss. There are alot of different skin conditions that could cause these symptoms.

Consult a vet.

Here is a web site for you to learn more.

Funghi? he may need some simple medication (an ointment, spray or powder), ask the vet for details, because we can't give a proper diagnosis over the internet.
could be a skin disorder triggered by a food allergy. My dog had similar symptoms and we discovered she was allergic to the food we were feeding her (It contained Lamb). Use Nutro dog food!
my friends dog had this, and it was due to an allergy to chicken in her food. but ask your vet every dog is different
It could be a number of things. Allergies, hot spots, fleas, or mange. You should be able to get some kind of medicated shampoo from the vet.
my sisters boston terrior mix has the same thing. I can't remember what the name for it is, but it's a skin condition that you can go to your vet and get an medication for. Sometimes during a bad break out my sister uses a cone for the dog to prevent it from becoming worse.
I found some good info here.

What can cause diahrrea, cause hair to stop growing, and weight loss?

I have an 11 year old collie husky mix who has the following symptoms:

1. his hair has stopped growing. We get him shaved down and his hair no longer grows back.

2. he has lost a lot of weight in the past couple of years. Something like 15 pounds -- about 25% of his total weight. He is fed a cup of dry food with about 6 ounces of canned food with each meal and he eats approximately half to three quarters of that.

3. he occasionally has diarrhea. This might be associated with periods where he ate more than normal or there were small changes in his diet. For instance, around thanksgiving he was given a small amount of turkey in his meals for about a week, at the end of which he had a diarrhea episode.

Is there anything specific that could cause all of this? We are taking him to the vet, but am looking up potential causes on my own as well. What can cause diahrrea, cause hair to stop growing, and weight loss?
I'm no vet, but the symptoms you describe sounds eerily like someone I knew who was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Mentally, you have to prepare yourself for the possibility you're going to need to put him to sleep to ease his pain and sufferings. What can cause diahrrea, cause hair to stop growing, and weight loss?
Jenna J has the best answer I'd say. Good luck, and I hope whatever it is can be cured! Tell your doggie I hope he is okay!
maybe over or underactive thyroid, not sure about the diahrrea though
Sound like he has a thyriod condition. The diarrhea was caused from the turkey you gave him. He and so may have a cancer in the abdomen best bet is to take him to the vet and get a complete lab work up
The list of potential causes is long.

The vet will have some good ideas.
I would definitely attribute a lot of this to old age. Do speak with your vet, I'm sure he or she will have good feedback for you.
Cancer, diabetes, thyroid imbalances, cushing's disease, etc....

Only a vet can give you a proper diagnosis, good luck!
There is a rather long list of possible causes of digestive problems, which includes intestinal parasites, fungal infections, food intolerances, pancreatitis, loss of pancreatic function, malabsorption of food, bacterial growth in the intestines, colitis, polyps, cancer, thryoid dysfunction, among others. Some of these are related to each other.

When you take him to the vet, be sure to take in a stool sample so they can screen for parasites, and ask for a complete blood workup. It will cost a bit, but may save you some time and grief down the road.

Is there any cause,if we masturbate we get hair falling,b'coz, if masturbate we loss strenght and we loss hair

There is ABSOLUTELY NO CONNECTION whatsoever between hair loss and masturation. Is there any cause,if we masturbate we get hair falling,b'coz, if masturbate we loss strenght and we loss hair
WTF are you trying to say?Is there any cause,if we masturbate we get hair falling,b'coz, if masturbate we loss strenght and we loss hair
Okay, do you really think that masturbation expends more energy than actual sex, or a real workout, or construction work, or marathon running? And do you really think that all sex kittens, bodybuilders, road workers, and cross-country joggers are bald? Why would masturbation be the one exercise that causes hair loss?!
rightio
The same things happens when you masturbate as when you have sex. Your hair doesn't fall out when you have sex so it doesn't fall out when you masturbate.
no, that's nonsense

What disease could cause severe hip pain, muscle weakness, hair and tooth loss, & light & heat sensitivity?

A friend has been ill for 4 years. No doctor can find a diagnosis. He has severe hip pain, muscle weakness, is in bed most of the time, walks with a cane and can not even sit up long enough to have a meal with his family. He has started loosing his hair and now his teeth are also loosing their enamel and breaking off. He is very sensitive to heat and light, his face is red and swelled up. Also has very high triglycerides(1400), and high blood pressure. He has mostly given up after around 20 doctors with abnormal test results but nothing exact. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What disease could cause severe hip pain, muscle weakness, hair and tooth loss, %26amp; light %26amp; heat sensitivity?
If he has seen 20 doctors and none of them can diagnosis, I can guarentee you no one on here is going to be able to diagnose him from your brief description...What disease could cause severe hip pain, muscle weakness, hair and tooth loss, %26amp; light %26amp; heat sensitivity?
This person should be evaluated for Cushing's Syndrome as he is showing classic symptoms of this disease. Many dr's are not well versed on this disease and it often goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for many years. Cushing's Syndrome is caused by too much of the hormone cortisol in the bloodstream.

What could cause a family & their pets to have itchy skin and hair loss? Water, Enviorment & what would it be?

We recently moved out of a state in the midwest and now on the west coast. Before we moved %26amp; was still living in a town in the midwest of about 15,000 very single one of us was developing rashes, itchy skin, hair loss %26amp; some of us (the humans) developed acne no matter what age. What could be causing such a thing? The water smelled horrible of chlorine in the morning time yet if it was that then wouldnt 15,000 people all complain? I thought it might have been the water when it was the animals who was losing the most of the hair because they took more into their bodies than us. We bought bottled water to drink but cooked with tap. Could it been the house?

We are just lost on what it could be. We are now on the west coast. Our skin has cleared up %26amp; every single one of our animals are growing their hair back (slowly but they are). Sores %26amp; acne are clearing up as well even on the animals. We are all..even the animals more alert if that is the word for it. Not as blah. What could it been? What could cause a family %26amp; their pets to have itchy skin and hair loss? Water, Enviorment %26amp; what would it be?
sounds like the house was toxic. It might be interesting to see if the people who are living there now have the same problems. Heck they might be grateful to talk to you if they are having the same problems. you might even save someones life. What could cause a family %26amp; their pets to have itchy skin and hair loss? Water, Enviorment %26amp; what would it be?
Seriously, this is the wrong place to look for medical advice when the condition sounds very serious.
That's freaky. You should ask a doctor that question.

I dont think your hair loss is permanent but I would advise you to never crash diet or vomit up food again. Its a bad road and I'm glad you stopped. You should really visit this site: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip943.

Also talk to your normal doctor and if your underage talk to your mom or dad. Hope this helps. good luck. :)

heres some other sites for ya.

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_adviceWill bulimia cause ur hair to thin on top and ur hair to get greasy? weight loss and dizzinous?
Yes, bulimia causes thin hair and can cause it to fall out. There was this girl at my school, back when I was in college, and she was obviously anorexic or whatever. Her hair was very thin and her cheeks were unnaturally sunken in, and she was extremely skinny. She looked terrible. I had a psychology class at the time and the professor mentioned this, she didn't name the girl she was talking about, but it was obvious to me.

Well, I'm glad you started eating healthier before it got out of control. I hate vomiting because it makes my stomach hurt too much.

Hair Loss Is Caused By A.DHT B.Working Out to Much C.Sleep deprivation D.Lack Of masturbation Our A and D~?

    i dont get it sorry

Is DHT (dihydrotestosterone) , the actual cause of hair loss in both male and females?

I'm confused. On the internet, whilst doing some research i read that DHT also occurs in women. I thought only men experienced this. Is this the root of what causes hair loss ? is DHT always present and always the reason why someone will lose their hair?

this is an article i found

    ';DHT develops when testosterone is combined with ';5-alpha reductase';, an enzyme that is produced by the hair follicles. The mixture of the already-present testosterone and the new enzyme cause the hair follicles to begin shrinking. The Di-hydrostestosterone, or DHT, remains present on the scalp, causing the hair follicles to shrink more and more. Eventually, the follicles are unable to continue producing hair';

If this is the case then is a dht blocker able to prevent hair loss for life if used continuously? I'm a 22 year old female experiencing hair loss which has not resolved itself after the delivery of my son 2 years ago. Can i get a recommendation of a Natural and fairly cheap DHT blocker i can use to grow my hair and prevent future hair loss?Is DHT (dihydrotestosterone) , the actual cause of hair loss in both male and females?
The paragraph you quoted primarily refers to men. It also applies to women approaching their menopause.

women are more likely to suffer from thyroid problems, hair loss caused by birth control pills and stress induced hair loss.Especially if they are as young as you. these may ultimately lead to increased DHT but that does not mean DHT itself is the cause of your hair loss.

That article you linked to is misleading and playing with words. women do not lose hair in the same way as men and are more than likely to suffer from diffused hair loss, that is thinning all over the head. DHT is Not the main cause of hair loss in women. But that article says the main cause of baldness in women. How many women go bald? Anyway that whole article is a sales pitch aimed at a product so I would not pay too much attention to it..

I would work on finding the root cause of your hair loss.It could be a number of things.sometimes you can be under lots of stress without even knowing it.

you may be suffering from Telogen Effluvium which can be triggered by childbirth and can take long a time to clear up. Sometimes years.

Most hair loss supplements with DHT blockers are only for men.The only one that I know of that is for women and does actually work is provillus.

P.S DHT tests in women are inconclusive and not very reliable. The reason is because of the very low levels of DHT compared to men. Tests carried out on women can and do report DHT as being normal even though it is causing hair loss.Is DHT (dihydrotestosterone) , the actual cause of hair loss in both male and females?
There are many reasons for hair loss including hormone imbalance, stress etc....

it would probably be better to go to the doctor so they can determine the cause.I think they can do test whether DHT is the cause nowadays?

  • I think Dieting and cutting out oil is causing me to have a sore scalp and hair loss?

I went on a diet 6 months ago and I noticed a sore scalp and a lot of hair coming out in my brush about 3 months ago. At first I didn't think anything of it, but I am starting to get scared of my hair getting to thin. I asked around and talked to a few people and most people tell me that it is the lack of oil in my diet. I have been taking salmon fish oil capsules for about a week now and also adding extra virgin olive oil in my salads and I have been feeling really blotted. I would except the blotting if my hair stopped coming out. I also have been rubbing aloe vera gel on my hair, recommended by a hairdresser who's friend went through the same thing. I am eating good otherwise, I am just wondering if there is other advice, or if you have run into the same thing or know someone who has. I made an appointment with my doctor to see a specialist, but it usually takes time to get in to see one, so I thought I would ask yahoo answers from people who may have been through the same thing. Thank You.I think Dieting and cutting out oil is causing me to have a sore scalp and hair loss?
why did you diet and how,cos in most cases a lot of people starve them selves and then put the blame on (DIET) dieting is about eating a balance diet with all the nutrients and vitamins we need.the loss of your hair is caused by lack of nutrients and certain vitamins in your boby.you should consider this very serious as youll be going to see a doctor make sure you explain evrything to him especialy what you were eating during your diet.do not over worry cos you going to be okey

GOOD LUCK.I think Dieting and cutting out oil is causing me to have a sore scalp and hair loss?
You need more protein in your diet , add more chicken and give it 4 weeks and you will see the difference. Your hair will start to come back. You just shocked your system.

What could cause painful, lumpy spot on head with headaches, nausea, some hair loss and fatigue?

The area on my head is about 4-5 inches and mainly hurts if I press on it. It feels lumpy.

I usually don't get headaches or get nauseated so I thought it was from the Chantix I was taking although I took it 2 years ago and did not experience this much.

I'm not use to having long hair, so I blamed natural occurence and old age on the hair I lose daily.

I am extremely tired all the time......like when a woman is pregnant and just has to lay down and sleep. The doctor said it was normal to feel tired because of a breathing problem I have.

I plan to have this checked out asap but until then, anyone have any comments? What could cause painful, lumpy spot on head with headaches, nausea, some hair loss and fatigue?
I think it is best for you to have this checked out just to rule out a tumor.

What can cause the loss of hair on head of about the size of a half dollar and on chin?

It seems to only be one spot for now on the head but at one time it was on the chin and about the size of a quarter. What can cause the loss of hair on head of about the size of a half dollar and on chin?
Maybe whomever your talking about has alopecia or spot baldness. It's when a person loses their hair or loses their hair in spots. It usually occurs on the scalp, so you might not have it. Hopefully you don't because there's no cure.

I have epilepsy and take 2 different meds, but it is causing hair loss any help please?

when i brush my hair or wash it my hair just falls out i have had to unstop my drain 3 times so far.can any one give tips to stop hair loss w/o stopping my medication for epilepsyI have epilepsy and take 2 different meds, but it is causing hair loss any help please?
While some hair fall daily is natural, stress, hairstyle products and lack of nutrition can cause excessive hair fall as listed at http://tinyurl.com/kshvn . By changing your lifestyle and using herbal remedies, you can reduce hair loss. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/py7z4 .I have epilepsy and take 2 different meds, but it is causing hair loss any help please?
My sister took all kinds of vitamins for nutrition. Just look at greay earth vitamin stores
One of my daughters has to take siezure medication and it really is a concern about hair loss so I am curious to see what responses you get My guess would be to make sure you are eating healthy meals and maybe increase foods with protein and calcium which I know you have to continually monitor liver function so protein would be questioanable. good luck
I'd say talk to your doctor. Be sure he knows what is going on. Hopefully, he will have some suggestions on how to counteract these side effects, or maybe he'll change your meds. Good luck.
Um... i really suggest you see your doctor...

advice from yahoo answers may not be the best or correct for your situation.

I do feel for you thou.

Im a surfer and have a tendency not to wash my hair after i surf. does ocean water cause hair loss?

not really, but if you don't use like a water treatment shampoo %26amp; conditiioner and you don't have to worry about anything..and if you don't do that..you won't have hair loss but your hair might end up having a greenish tint to it..that is what happened to me.

xDIm a surfer and have a tendency not to wash my hair after i surf. does ocean water cause hair loss?
It depends on your scalp but from my opinion i dont think it does It can iritate it though

What can cause adult acne, abnormal periods(2001,2005,2006) and hair loss in an young adult?

hair loss started at age 21(1999), heavy period started in the fall of 2001, and adult acne started around 2003. What is the mysterious diagnosis? thyroid is okay, slightly anemic, little overweight. hair is thick and long in the back and very thin in the front. doctors dont know nothing in NJ (have not met all of them)What can cause adult acne, abnormal periods(2001,2005,2006) and hair loss in an young adult?
Oh wow! That is sooo classic for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome!!!! Find yourself a good OB/Gyn and question it!!! PCOS causes all of those symptoms as well as infertility %26amp; ovarian cysts (you may not know you have them). I have it and they first tested me for thyroid too, which of course is perfectly normal. It wasn't untill I tried to get pregnant I was diagnosed with PCOS. You can get some more information at Soulcysters.com, but definately see a gynocologist.

They will probably put you on some combination therapy including Glucopghage (a diabetic medication).Personally I would recommend ProActive for your acne, kindof expensive, but worth it! And Some of the doctors I have talked to said unofficially a low carb diet can help too, which I have tried and had good success with. I like the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. Send me a message if you have any questions!!!

Good Luck! What can cause adult acne, abnormal periods(2001,2005,2006) and hair loss in an young adult?
Hi, I can surley relate..I am 40 years old and have had acne for the past 6 years I finally went to the dermatologist and he gave me ampicillion 500 mg twice a day. and aldactone 100mgs once a day in the morning it is a water pill that is supposed to block to much testosterone in women. and I wash my face with Purpose soap and then put on a topical med called klairon presribed by dermatologist and wash my face again at night and put on a topical med..I have no more acne at all and the scars are healing as well..my advise is to get to the dermatologist asap...
    Hi,

    Maybe this article could help:

Female Pattern Hair Loss It Depends On The Genes

    http://female-pattern-hair-loss-help.blogspot.com/
You have a cellular dysfunction and a hormone imbalance.

It can be corrected with glyconutrients.

    Info on my page.
Have them check you out for a condition called ';PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome';... the symptoms sound similar to yours and they can threaten your ability to reproduce. You could also look it up on the internet to see if you have any other symptoms that you havent listed. I myself was diagnosed with PCOS and well... sometimes ignorance is bliss.

    Good Luck
I have similar issues started at 25, now in my 40's. I was told the anemia is from the heavy periods. The hair loss from not enough calcium and the adult acne from hormonal changes. Supposedly getting on the pill will shorten your period and make it lighter. The pill may also help with the acne. I chose to take calcium and iron supplements rather than the pill. It has helped. I still struggle with adult acne, and my bloodwork says I'm anemic every time.

The other thing with your hair- if it is really long and you keep it pulled back it will thin in the front from the tension/weight of hair.

  • What could be the cause of sharp cramps and hair loss in a 22 year old?

I have been experiencing really sharp cramps in my abdomen for about 3 days now. At first, I blamed it on the fact that my boyfriend and I had really rough sex the night before. Could it be that he ';disturbed'; something up there, and that the cramps will subside? They were very bad the first day, but seem to be dying down as each day passes.

Also, I am experiencing very strange hair loss. I am only 22 years of age. It begins as a small patch but grows larger. I have scheduled a doctors apt for that, but he's booked up for a few more weeks.

I've previously had a partner who cheated on me on a continuous basis, but lied about ever having actual sex with the girls. Is that something I should be concerned with now? Such as an STD related to the hair loss? What could be the cause of sharp cramps and hair loss in a 22 year old?
Sounds more like acute stress problems and possibly the start of an ulcer. Jackie Kennedy's cousin went bald over stress.

What is causing my brittle nails and hair loss?

Today when I was brushing my hair I noticed several strands of hair came out. Then, I trimmed my nails and many of them split and cracked while I was cutting them. What could this be caused by? I am recovering from the flu. For about 3 days I ate very, very little, but I have eaten a pretty balanced diet today and yesterday. Is this because of the flu and my lack of nutrition over the past few days, or should I be worried? What is causing my brittle nails and hair loss?
It is normal to lose up to 200 strands (some people more) of hair per day. Do you have other symptoms? Like bowel irregularities, fatigue, hot/cold intolerance? If so, you may need to have your thyroid level checked. If not, then your nails may just be suffering the drying effects of winter. Ask you doctor if you are concerned.

Best of luckWhat is causing my brittle nails and hair loss?
Have you been throwing up a lot? Usually people with eating disorders like bulimia or anorexia have hair loss and brittle nails. If you've been sick lately, I wouldn't worry about it, just make sure to take plenty of vitamins and eat a healthy diet in the future.
you probably just haven't eaten enough for the past couple of days. Getting back to your natural diet should help. I hope you feel better and know that if it continues it maybe something else. I wouldn't worry too much tho.
you can buy gelatin tablets that help your nails get stronger- they are in drugstores, or walmart- everywhere.
You're not getting enough calcium and protein. Try drinking more milk (skim is fine), and eating more meat!
    eat more protein and calcium

Will having a vit d and vit b12 deficiency cause hair loss, will using nioxin help?

my hair has started falling out for about two months now, gradually getting worse. i went to the dr on 1/4/10 and my b12 was low and my vit d was 17. i have been taking a vit d supplement since 1/5/10 and have to take monthly injections of vitb12. my hair is still falling out, mostly when i shower, its enough to clog the drain and then we i comb it i use a wide tooth pick to comb it and i get another glob of hair. im starting to freak out. i went and got nioxin shampoo and conditioner thinking it may help but when i use it, it seems like more hair falls out than when i use just treseme. also i have been taking 7500mcg of biotin to help... so far no change except its still gradually getting worse. my dr seemed to blow off the issue but i am really concerned. can anyone give me and advice or tell me if taking the supplements will help stop the hair loss and if so how long will it take for it to stop. i am only 22 and very upset that my hair is fallin out?? please help. Will having a vit d and vit b12 deficiency cause hair loss, will using nioxin help?
    You may have heard that hair goes in ';cycles';

well this is the stage of your hair where for say, 2-5 months your hair will regenerate itself by falling out in large amounts. You're probably fine as far as your health - but its still good to keep it in close check.

Anyways I've gone through this stage about 1 or 2 times in my life. (I'm a little younger than you are) My hair does not look thin nor do I look sickly. It's just something that happens every so often. For me it lasted about 4 months (?)...if i can remember. I have long hair, btw.

Plain and simple can dry scalp cause hair loss?

    Yes. Definitely.

Lack of moisture = Dry scalp

Dry scalp = dry, brittle hair

Dry, brittle hair = hair lossPlain and simple can dry scalp cause hair loss?
    yes! of course!

also hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago my wife suffered from hair loss too and she started trying everything you can imagine to stop her hair loss. the things that really worked for her was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also used herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for her!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

Just having dry scalp, in itself, will not cause hair loss. However, depending on what is the underlying cause of your hair loss, that can also be the reason why your scalp is dry also. I mean, if it is a physiological reason, such as a disease.

Why does anti androgen cause breast swelling? I just bought some Nuhair for hair loss and i'm worried...?

Does ironing, and chemical straightening cause permanent hair loss?

i iron my hair 2-3 times a week after i wash it,and ive found that my hair that was pretty thick, has reduced in its density.also,i chemically straighten it every 4-5 months.will i develop bald patches becuase of it?Does ironing, and chemical straightening cause permanent hair loss?
No but constant heat and chemicals will give you dry brittle hair and make the hair very weakDoes ironing, and chemical straightening cause permanent hair loss?
YES! beware! straightening irons pull at the hair folicles ( bits which hold hairs in place) and over time loosen the hair so it falls out!

I know this from experience, dont worry, its ok to straighten your hair, but grip the top tightly with your hand, so that it isnt getting tugged at too much.

I do the same thing you do, and I don't have any problems. Everyone is different though. If you really seem to be losing a lot of hair I would skip the chemical straightening.
its good that you wait 4 to 5 months to straighten your hair, i do the same. but if your hair is falling out then stop using what ever product your using and wait six to eight months or longer b/c your hair needs time to breath and grow. cut back on ironing to 1 to 2 times a week or start going to the hair salon regularly.
Maybe. You can iron just don't iron too much.
It can definitely damage you're hair but it goes differently for every person. Your hair could be falling out because of a problem that has occurred from disease or something else.
if u keep doing that u will eventually get cancer. so it is best 2 just iron ur hair once a week and the permantly should stay for along time

Can anxiety cause hair loss?i have severe anxiety and im losing hair at 23(started since i was 20!)?

i hav lost most of my hair..maybe due to this..cause there is no direct link in terms of hereditary. my father died at 60 and he never lost hair.

but my mom's elder brother has hair loss..hes the only one in the family who has this. Can anxiety cause hair loss?i have severe anxiety and im losing hair at 23(started since i was 20!)?
yes. stress does cause this. Can anxiety cause hair loss?i have severe anxiety and im losing hair at 23(started since i was 20!)?
you could have male pattern baldness to and because of this you are having anxieties as well. This male pattern baldness runs in my family as well. My uncle first had it and now his nephews (my cousins) are getting it as well.
Yes, anxiety can cause hair loss. ';Telogen Effluvium occurs when sudden or severe stress causes an increase in the shedding of the hair. In Telogen effluvium a sudden or stressful event can cause the hair follicles to prematurely stop growing and enter into a resting phase. The hair will then stay in the resting phase for about 3 months after which time a large amount of hair will be shed.'; During stressful times hair sheds a lot. Poor diet or shampoos can also cause it.
Yes and ask your doctor about a medication named 'Buspar' for severe anxiety.

Try a small dosage, 5 mg 3 times a day, for 10 days or so then ask him to slowly increase until you feel comfortable with the results.

Life is so different without the anxiety and the brain is sharper.
anxiety can cause hair loss. My grandmother was an immigrant from Italy. When she came over on the boat, the trip was so traumatic for her that she lost all her hair. It grew back very thick. You can get hair vitamins at any drug store. They will help with hair, skin and nails, which you can usually notice a difference in as well.

My husband and I drink vanilla flavoring in our coffee. Would too much of the vanilla cause hair loss?

no, i have not heard of any study that relates the two. but coffee can affect vitamin absorption, and http://hairrestorationtalk.com/hair-loss suggests that we need vitamins B, C, D and E for healthy hair and scalp. My husband and I drink vanilla flavoring in our coffee. Would too much of the vanilla cause hair loss?
I searched Medline, which has all published academic journals for the terms ';alopecia'; (hair loss), and vanilla. There were no articles published, in any language or country that both of these words in the title or in the abstract, so I think it is safe to say that vanilla doesn't cause hair loss.

Actually, alot of hair care products (including some for hair loss) actually HAVE vanilla in them.

On a related topic, try using a small (1/2 inch) piece of vanilla bean instead of vanilla flavoring. Cut it lengthwise, and scrape the seeds into your coffee, and also throw in the rest of the bean. Also add a little bit of ground Cinnamon. It's DELICIOUS (but it won't bring your husband's hair back). My husband and I drink vanilla flavoring in our coffee. Would too much of the vanilla cause hair loss?

Been on minoxidil ( R0gaine庐 ) for about a year and a half and have not seen even the smallest amount of regrowth that i almost fell into depression.

My hair only started visibly growing on the bald spot after skeptically trying out the various natural techniques to re-grow lost hair @ http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I would highly recommend this easy to follow step-by-step guide with pictures to anyone who is suffering from hair loss right now. But remember this isn't a miracle cure for baldness as you will also need to put in some effort in order to see results. And its only a minimum commitment of 15 minutes a day to help re-grow your lost hair.

Anyway, its also a cheaper and effective way of re-growing lost hair compared to those unnatural ways which may involve harsh chemicals that may have side effects.
I've never heard of vanilla consumption linked to hair loss. However, even if it IS, I'm sure that the little amount you like in your coffee doesn't even come close to the amount you have to ingest for it to have that effect.
That's the first time I've ever heard that! I'm sure it's not good for you, but I doubt it has any major affect on hair( loss ). Check out this website for more information on hair loss and its symptoms and treatments.

No, but hypothyroidism causes hair loss.

    Is it pure vanilla?

Is it Mexican brand vanilla that has imitation ';vanillin'; mixed with real vanilla? I have heard that some mexican brands contain some questionable chemicals.

I have heart problems , dibebtes, hair loss high chestrol and pst cause by vietnam and agent orange,?

is there any more problems cause by agent orange ?I have heart problems , dibebtes, hair loss high chestrol and pst cause by vietnam and agent orange,?
Diabetes have been approved as having been caused by Agent Orange. I fyou have it and have not applied for disability benefits, do it. Diabetes is expensive. Heart problems often accompany diabetes so they can be caused by AO also. PTSD is not necessarily caused by AO, but probably is caused by Vietnam if you were in combat or close to it. It were inthe Army and have an infantryman's badge, apply for PTSD also. Chloracne is the most obvious thing caused by AO, it is a horrible skin condition. You can look up a site on agent orange that the Va puts up and go through it. There is a long list of things that are associated with AO, so the previous answer is wrong - get to the VA and check it out.I have heart problems , dibebtes, hair loss high chestrol and pst cause by vietnam and agent orange,?
I have both diabetes and high cholesterol and haven't been to Vietnam or anywhere near agent orange.

I don't think that you can attribute your health problems categorically to your military service.

I would however urge you to take your diabetes extremely seriously as it is a terrible, sneaky opponent. Diabetes has been linked to many other serious illness such as heart problems, blindness, neuropathy, hypertension, limb amputation, and kidney failure.

Diabetes, if unchecked, will ravage your body over time. I'm in my early forties and am on dialysis to treat my diabetes-related kidney failure.
The health conditions you mention could be related to AO but also could be related to genetics, lifestyle/habits (like smoking, not exercising) or other medical problems you have.

You most certainly should have a comprehensive Agent Orange evaluation at the VA.

How much radiation is emitted from a 27'; TV (CRT) and can this cause hair loss or cancer.?

A close friend moved into a new place %26amp; when the movers delivered her 10 year old TV they had dropped it. There was a huge gaping hole in the side of the TV exposing the insides (tube, coils and wires). The TV still worked so she continued to use it over the next 4 years. During that time she had a change in hair texture, significant hair thinning %26amp; hair shedding (even baldness in a few areas). In documentation that came w/ the TV, there was a disclaimer about X ray precaution. It said ';the product contains critical mechanical %26amp; electrical parts that are essential for XRAY radiation protection %26amp; product safety....WARNING: to avoid possible exposure to radiation during servicing, take protective measures described in the service manual.'; She thinks there may be radiation coming out of the hole in the TV that seeped in the air %26amp; may have caused or contributed to her hair loss or could cause future health problems like cancer. Know if this is possible %26amp; what she can do. TV is now gone. How much radiation is emitted from a 27'; TV (CRT) and can this cause hair loss or cancer.?

Does methetrexate and/or prednizone cause weight gain and/or hair loss?

Been taking both meds for approx. 8 - 9 mths. Don't notice a physical difference, except for gaining weight and losing hair. What good does this medicine do? This is for RADoes methetrexate and/or prednizone cause weight gain and/or hair loss?
Prednisone definitely can cause weight gain and hair loss, also hair growth, and moon face. It also can relocate fat from the arms and legs to the belly, causing distended abdomin (not only weight gain, but then nothing fits right); thins the skin, causes easy bruising with red spots, allows veins to show through; causes calcium loss from the bones, promotes cateracts, osteo-arthritis, and a whole list of typical, less likely, and rare side effects. Try doing a search, you will probably want to get off it as soon as you can, it must be tapered. I don't know much about Methetrexate, except that my doctor was reluctant to put me on it. I was on Prednisone for lung inflammation. Am now off six months, still haven't gotten any weight off. Maybe there's something else you can do for your RA.Does methetrexate and/or prednizone cause weight gain and/or hair loss?
From my experience in treating my Crohn's the prednisone will make your hair fall out a lot. It will also make you insatiably hungry and all you want to do is eat, eat, eat. So the weight gain is two fold- you eat and you swell up like a balloon and get the tell tale moon face. I also found that the prednisone also made me extremely emotional- weepy, angry, etc and hyper. The prednisone and the methotrexate are both used to lower your immune system as both RA and Crohns are caused by an overactive immune system. Prednisone should not be taken for long periods of time as it can harm other organs down the road. I was on it for 1.5 years (no choice) and it took 2 years to get rid of all the symptoms. The methotrexate is great- I have found very few side effects from it. Good luck!!!!
Prednizone can cause weight gain. It helps reduce swelling. It is a steroid used to reduce various types of inflammation and swelling.
I currently take Methotrexate evey week. It is a chemo drug, but probably the least toxic (it is usually used to treat things other than cancer). It is commonly used to treat RA because it slows cell reproduction, decreasing what causes the inflammation in the first place. I've been on it for 2 years, and I've noticed some hair loss, but nothing major.

Your weight gain is caused by the Prednisone (another drug I've taken, but not recently). It is a type of Corticosteroid, which are anti-inflammatry drugs and weight gain is a side effect.
Please look at the info on these sites and get off those

  • My dog has dry itchy skin and constant scratching is causing hair loss, what to do?

there is special shampoo out there also you could give your dog an oatmeal bath. The shampoo is called is by hartz its for dry scally skin and hair loss.My dog has dry itchy skin and constant scratching is causing hair loss, what to do?
The cause is most likely in the bag...corn, wheat, soy, beet pulp, preservatives. These cause the most allergy skin problems. If you switch to a premium kibble, with all natural ingredients, it will most likely help. Premium kibbles are made with Human grade ingredients. One with brown rice as the grain would be best for skin problems.

My favorite is Canidae, but there are others available at your pet supply. Innova, Wysong, Solid gold, are all excellent foods. These kibbles cost more per bag, but less per month, as dogs eat less (after the first bag) and waste less, as they are better assimilated. My dog has dry itchy skin and constant scratching is causing hair loss, what to do?
He's got mange...take hom to the vet!
My sister's dog has the same problem. He has allergies. You need to take him to the vet and to see what kind of allergy he has and then they can give you something that your dog can take for them. My sister also has a special shampoo for her dog that helps him with the itching. I do not know what the shampoo is called though, sorry.
Take it to a VET!!!!!WHy would you let it suffer?
TAKE HIM TO THE VET GIRL
take him off kibble and start feeding raw is the best or you can add the 3 omega fatty acids as a supplement. mange is not dry and itchy.
you should put cortizone on it and go to the vet and get him a cone
Take your dog to the vet it is allergic to something...flea treatment...grass...himself sometimes dogs have allergies so bad that they need shots like people. It will only get worse left untreated and it will be miserable for you both!
they have a shampoo called allerest you can get it from your local vet

In cats, what would cause a lot of hair loss and dandruff in one small area?

My cat is about 5 or 6 years old, and seems to be healthy in every way except for this. A strip of her coat about an inch wide and three inches long, from about the mid back to almost her tail, is shedding a lot more hair than the rest of her body. Also, only in that area, she has a lot of large dandruff flakes. She doesn't seem to have dandruff in any other area, nor excessive hair loss in any other area.

She has a very soft coat of fur, but I have noticed that the area shedding so much is a lot less soft. She doesn't seem to be in any pain when I pet her there, though perhaps a little annoyed. I'm not sure if that's me being paranoid or not though, as she's always prefered me petting her neck and chin than her back or rump.

She has no other unusual symptoms other than the hair loss and dandruff. I haven't noticed any weight loss or weight gain, urination or bowel problems, excessive thirst, or anything else like that. She seems to be acting the same as always also, both around me and the other cats. I got paranoid and looked up a million or so cat diseases in my distress, but there are no other symptoms that match any of the illnesses I found.

I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this, and if they have any idea's on what might be the problem. In cats, what would cause a lot of hair loss and dandruff in one small area?
this happeneds to my cat her rump area gets dandruff and sheds a lot more than normal, we talked to the vet about it once and he gave us a spray to brush into her coat when used regularly it makes a difference, although one time she got really bad and when we groomed her i think her undercoat basically all came out in that one area, when this happened i used the spray on her more frequently and it all grew back in fine, if your really concerned take your cat to the vet or talk about it on your next visit,

good luck and hope this helps =3In cats, what would cause a lot of hair loss and dandruff in one small area?
This is most likley self induced ie she is licking the hair off. It is common. Stress or who knows can be the culprit. Have her checked. If she is licking, putting the hair stubble under a microscope will show the fracrtured hair ends. Treatment is easy.

Having said that, it is not the only possible problem. So get her checked.

Is doing my hair thiscolor from black TO DAMAGING?? and will it cause hair loss??please answer?

so 8-9 months ago i japanese str8ened my hair then 3 weeks ago i dyed my hair black and i then did bleached highlights with pink n blue color over it then i didnt like the results so i redyed them black again with permanent dye on the same day,

and just a few days ago i again redyed my hair black cuz the black wasnt really showing, but now im thinking of going for a honey caramel color with pale blonde streaks in it, so would this honestly be to damaging to do to my hair and would it cuase hair loss???

also if im going 2 do this im going to do it in a few days or less can i ??Is doing my hair thiscolor from black TO DAMAGING?? and will it cause hair loss??please answer?
dont do anything else. you good suffer hair lose. are you using permenent dye or like a semi-permenent. using chemicals like that is damaging so give your hair a two week break and then maybe go to the salon. Is doing my hair thiscolor from black TO DAMAGING?? and will it cause hair loss??please answer?
Yes, all of those chemicals in such a short amount of time will damage your hair and cause it to fall out. You need to stop messing with it unless you want to be practically bald and have the hair that's left suk. Your choice.

Does washing your hair too much remove nutrients and natural oils causing hair loss?

Washing too often DOES remove much needed nutrients and natural oils. It's best to wash hair every 2-4 days, depending on your hair's oiliness. As for hair loss, I am not aware that washing too often will cause that. Hair loss can be caused by MANY factors from diet to stress to hormonal changes. It's a topic that is still being sought to conquer/overcome. Hope this helpedDoes washing your hair too much remove nutrients and natural oils causing hair loss?
i too washes my hair everyday~ didnt realli see negative signs.. but i uses condition after shampoos~Does washing your hair too much remove nutrients and natural oils causing hair loss?
possibly..you should use dove shampoo because it leaves the oils in your hair that you need and takes out the ones you dont need..
All I know is it will damage your hair definitely has to do with removing natural oils, not sure about removing nutrients (as hair is dead)....not sure if it causes hair loss....but stress does.
yup, that why you use conditioner instead of shampoo if u wash it a few times a day
    yes

frequent washing will reduce the nutrients from your hair n this will lead 2 hair fall

it also depends on the shampoo u r using

if it is a mild shampoo thin it will have a small impact, but any strong shampoo will harm your hair
NO.INFACT IT IMPROVES BLOOD CICULATION.I SUGGEST DONT WASH EVERYDAY.u can go for an alternate day hair wash.goodluck.
yes. wash it twice or thrice a week that is enough.
yeh, wash it every 2-4 days!!!
If you use a shampoo with Zinc in it it can, but otherwise no
ya it does.. but if u really want to wash it often then use a mild shampoo.. baby shamoops are ideal in that case..
    no .
Its bad to wash your hair everyday..your suppose to wash it every other day. when you wash it everyday you remove the oil that protects your hair from environmental pollution etc...therefore its important to keep that oil in your hair to protect it. It dries up your hair and it can cause it to fall if you wash it alot!...some shapoos have a lot of chemicals that can cause your hair to fall...try a new shampoo and dont stress so much cuz that can be a cause as well.

Can hypoglycemia and/or anemia cause hair loss?

    Hi everybody,

I wanted to ask if any of you know if hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause hair loss? Can anemia (low iron levels in blood) cause hair loss?

I had these conditions before when I was teenager and I wanted to know if they can cause a substantial difference in hair thickness? I'm trying to determine how much of hair loss (at 26) is caused by my heredity, stress, or one of those above conditions.

    If you are interested in answering, and I would appreciate it, I have a more detailed explanation of my hair problem called ';Bizarre side effects with minoxidil/rogaine, how about you?';

Thanks for the responses! Can hypoglycemia and/or anemia cause hair loss?
Nutritional deficiencies and bad nutrition - vitamins and minerals have an important role in hair growth, and if there is a lack of them this may cause severe hair loss. Deficiency could be caused by poor eating, intestinal absorption problems, various bacteria and problems in the digestive system. To stop hair loss make sure you eat enough raw vegetables and fruit for maximum absorption of vitamins.

In fact some specialist in the field of balding and thinning hair actually suggest biotin supplementation. This is primarily due to its importance in releasing energy from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Biotin is also vital for cell replication and growth. Along with biotin many experts suggest using choline, folic acid, vitamin B1, B2, B6, and B12. The B vitamin complex is considered to be very important overall and B12 is essential for healthy brain function. Can hypoglycemia and/or anemia cause hair loss?
Stress in general is known to speed up hair loss. But of course it's hard to know if you hair problems are due to a medical condition or just heredity.

It's not rare for some males to start balding in the early 20's: actors Sean Connery (James Bond) and Jason Statham (The Transporter; Crank) started balding in their 20's.

It's pretty rare for those conditions to cause hair loss.

Early hair loss is usually hereditary or caused by stress.

But if you're losing a ton of hair on a daily basis, see your doctor.

Your dogs hair loss can be from

    -Allergic reaction from flea bites.

    - Grass

    - Your dogs current diet.

Dont get ripped off by a vet!!!

    -Try changing its diet

-Incorporate more omega, flaxseed, sunflower oil into its diet

Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?

I had a blood test and my hormone levels are normal, yet I have those symptoms. My hair on my head is thinning but as fast as I pluck body/face hairs they're coming back within a couple of days and I hate it.

What could be causing it? Has anyone else experienced this and would going on the pill help?Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
Possibly an underactive thyroid. Other than that, it could be an hereditary condition. Ask your doc if your thyroid function was checked as well as your other hormone levels. Also, you could have hormone levels within normal range and still have PCOS. An ultrasound would confirm this.Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
The pill could help , but you would be better going back to the doctors , if you are trying for a baby then going back on the pill will just delay it even longer , Ive pocs myself and the hairs drive me mad as well , I've a pair of tweezers in my hand all the time.
    Stress can cause this.

I take topamax and have never had a fever or hair loss. I have had tingling hands and feet and numb lips that have gone away. I have heard that you can loose hair. Here is a link with a lot of people's experiences. They rate the drug from on to five, with five being the best

Any drug may cause drug fever. Topamax has been reported to be associated with heat stroke in some patients who did not sweat enough. 9% of Topamax patients on 400 mg /d report fevers compared with no patients on 50 mg/d.

Hair loss was reported in 5% of Topamax patinets on 400 mg/d, but only in 2% in those on only 50 mg/d.

Does Permanent Hair Straightening cause permanent hair damage and hair loss?

I got a Permanent/Japanese Hair straightening service back in Dec08 and in Feb 09 highlights......since than I have had a lot of hair damage and hair loss. I used to have very long healthy wavy hair and the only reason why I straightened my hair was because of my wedding and honeymoon and I didn鈥檛 want to deal with bow drying or styling my hair. The first 2 months after my treatment my hair looked amazing. My hair used to be 24-30 inches long now its around 15 inches and extremely thinned out!

Is this hair loss temporary? I am hoping my hair will be back to normal in 2-3 years. (considering hair grows half inch every month) Will my new hair be nice thick and wavy the way I had it? Or does this service cause permanent hair loss and damage?Does Permanent Hair Straightening cause permanent hair damage and hair loss?
    yes! it is possible!

Hair loss and brittle nalis, what is the cause/cure?

i have just done a thyroid test and the results for t3,t4 and tsh are normal...then what is the cause of my problem?Hair loss and brittle nalis, what is the cause/cure?
The Thyroid doesn't affect you hair and nails very much... normally, it's lack of nutrition, too much stress, and/or environmental problems that affect them the most. Because of that, the cause is very difficult to say for sure, but there are many things that can help them.

Biotin, Silica (often in Horsetail), Gelatin, MSM, L-Cysteine, and some of the B vitamins are very good for the health of your hair and nails, and Foti is good for hair health. Most of those are in various products on the market that have some wordings of ';Hair, Skin, and Nails'; or some variation of that. Try some of those out for a couple months, and you'll be able to see the healthy new growth.

For the nails and hair that have already grown and are damaged, you could try some shampoos for your hair and some products that are typically near the nail polish in stores that may cover your nails to make them stronger temporarily... but those aren't permanent fixes.Hair loss and brittle nalis, what is the cause/cure?
I tend to be anemic and I will often have higher hair loss when my iron is low. I am also usually under a higher amount of stress when my iron gets low as well and stress can be a factor in hair loss. Keep on your doctor to find out what the problem is and what can be done to help you out.
Are you taking anything to lower your cholesterol? My mother has this problem and there isn't much you can do to prevent this problem.

Try a calcium supplement and eat jello.
you can get a great supplement at GNC or at your local vitamin supplement store or you can get it online, its called hair skin and nails instead of buying one for each you get it all in one vitamin....its not too expensive hope this helps out mama
Some people have signs of hypothyroidism years before the tests will finally fall out of the ';normal'; range. Your doctor needs to do a test every six months. When the pattern is discovered, your doctor can prescribe Synthroid or Armour Thyroid.

T4, T3, and TSH are good indicators for problems with your thyroid. But some doctors rely only on the designated ';normal'; range to diagnose problems instead of figuring out what is ';normal'; for you as an individual.

You either need a more enlightened physician or one who will be willing to test you every six months to show the downward trend that is causing your problems. Once it is proven that you need thyroid supplementation, your doctor will be able to diagnose it and treat it.
eat lots of fruits and veggies.

your bones, nails, teeth and hair need calcium to grow properly.

    try drinking lots of milk.

    or eating dairy product.

try modifying your diet to all your essential vitamins %26amp; minerals you need.

you can also get calcium suppliments, it would be a smart a idea to go to a natural pathic doctor, and ask he/she to test your vitamin levels.

so you can find what your body needs.

    hope that helps for you.

i know it did for you.

    GOOD LUCK!

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

What the solution for hair loss...and how is it caused...is it stressness or something else?

This can happen for a couple reasons, getting older, being ill, or because of stress.

I had bad stress and my hair was falling out. I went to a dermatoligist and he put me on a vitamin and gave me hair moose to put on my scalp before bed. Im only 21 so I figured it was cause I dyed my hair so much. I would def try taking Biotin, its a vitamin for hair, skin and nails, give that about a month and see if you start to see those wispies on your scalp, if not I would def go to a derm dr.

Good Luck, hope this helps! What the solution for hair loss...and how is it caused...is it stressness or something else?

If the hair loss is sudden or extreme then you should see your physician. Stress can cause hair loss; but no way to be sure without consulting a doctor.
so many reasons, but a doctor can tell you for sure, are you over washing and blow drying, on any new meds, and yes stress can make your hair fall out
    Stress, or because you're old.

Older people loose hair and it gets thin. I'f you're not old, then my bad.
Many reasons for hairloss. I have thin hair because of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) caused by hormonal imbalance, too much male hormone plus other symptoms. It's not as bad as some women but I notice it more near my fringe area.

*** The Best Hair Loss Solution ( Personal Review )

Do Hair Straightners ( Iron ) With Ceramic And teflon plates cause hair loss ?

I have a hair straightner with ceramic and teflon coating, i have realtivley thin hair, if i use it will it cause any hair loss or severe damadge ?Do Hair Straightners ( Iron ) With Ceramic And teflon plates cause hair loss ?
i know people who straighten their hair daily and still have silky hair

you should be right : ]

a top quality straightener should be fine

some tips when straightening your hair:

    - Don't straighten when damp as it sizzles your hair!

    - Don't apply any products AFTERWARDS

    - Don't apply to much liquid products before, as it will diminish the quality and lasting of your straight hair

    - Work bottom of your head upwards (for longer hair)

    - Tying your hair up or pushing it behind your ears will cause it to kinkDo Hair Straightners ( Iron ) With Ceramic And teflon plates cause hair loss ?
Yes.... u r right.. it causes hair damage %26amp; may be results to hair loss....

BUT DONT WORRY....... Once or twice in six months is O.K... that will not create any problem for your lovely hair ...

But if use it {{around or approximately }} once or twice in every 10-15 days it will create many problems, which I've already mentions in the 1st line of my anser ....

    Hope you got the reply...

    So, TAKE CARE..............

    Cheers....... :-))
Using heat , can be harmful 4 ur hair. But give fully nutrition to ur hair, it will help u. Use dai,egg in every 15 days on ur hai.

Use hot oil, Castor oil %26amp; amond oil mixer on ur hair. It will must help u. Be stylish.
Flat irons, when used properly, will not hurt your hair. Dry it out a little, yes. But if you don't have the iron on a setting too hot for the texture of your hair (ie, fine hair=low setting), and you move it quickly enough through your hair (don't hold it in the same spot too long, then you really will break it off!), you should be okay.

When people abuse flat irons (straighten over the same huge section over and over, rather than taking thin, little sections and getting it done in one pass), they get breakage problems. Just remember that your hair is fragile, and treat it as such.
All hair straighteners cause damage and drying if you use them constantly. The higher end straighteners (with ceramic plates) heat up faster and to higher temperatures so you don't need to straighten a section of hair over and over, so there's less damage. The ceramic plates are also smoother and don't pull at the hair as much.

Your hair should be fine as long as you're not being too rough with the straightener or using it every single day. Make sure to use a protecting spray before straightening, though - most salons will sell one.
It's the heat that damages your hair.
    Yes, there are several reasons.

    A. Strands of hair get stuck and get pulled out.

    B. The heat damages the hair.

    C. They can burn hair, cause dead ends.

    D. Dry hair out.

    E. For the severe damage...you can severely burn you face or body part including your hair. Hope this helps.
    gawd, i hope not!! lol

nah, dont worry, its the HEAT that damages ur hair.. just dont so it too often and you'll be fine!

Does masturbation cause acne and hair loss?

I turned 15 a month ago. I've been experiencing moderate blackheads since about 13 years of age. About 2 weeks ago I stopped masturbating, my face cleared almost 100%. I started again and the acne is back. I do it about 2-3 times a week.

About a month ago my hair has started thinning in some spots. It is very noticeable when I comb it back. I thought it may have been my Differin, but I think it is masturbation.

The theory is that masturbation release testoserome which is then converted to DHT which cause acne and hair loss. If this is true, I think I can have the willpower to quit masturbation.

So you think it is true?Does masturbation cause acne and hair loss?
Yes it is caused by this and if I hit you on the back while you are making a face it will stick... no it is caused by your hormone levels and regardless those would fluctuate at your age... masturbation has nothing to do with it at all and hair loss due to testosterone is age related and called hereditary hair loss so if it runs in the family for premature balding that is the likely cause, your hair would also bald in a pattern google male pattern baldness... you know the flip side of this would be my stepmother who always told my brother that if he would get out and get some that his acne would be cleared... yes you should look into the hair loss and order something for your face, but playing with your pecker isn't the source of your woes, even if you are catholic.Does masturbation cause acne and hair loss?
My dad had been suffering from hair loss and only recently he started to see a huge difference with his hair (lots of fine hair growing out especially at the temple area) after trying out the various natural techniques taught to grow hair for 1 week at this website http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I must say its a very informative, effective and easy to follow step-by-step guide. I highly recommend it to anyone who is suffering from hair loss.

    Hope it helps ! =)
I have some acne and I use Differin to, I am also having hair problems because it is becoming thin and I have little, the theory of masturbation may be true also sperm has lots of vitamin E that helps to keep wealthy hair and nails, I will try it for a couple of weeks, no more, I need some relief !!!
Well alot of acne is hormone related, but do not stop masturbating! Masturbations 3+ times a week greatly lowers your risk of prostate cancer and other prostate conditions. So cancer or a little acne? Easu desicion. Baldness is hereditary, not hormone related.
I don't believe this is true. I masturbate often and I have a full head of hair. I used to have acne in my younger teen years, but now I have very little acne, only a pimple every now and then. Hope this helps ya.
Not true at all, and has been proven scientifically to be false. Also dude, since masturbation is simply solo sex, having sexual intercourse would obviously have the same effect. It doesn't.
if it was i had to be bald by now...sometimes it's uncontrolable i end up doing it 8 times...and i do not have acne either.
    apsolutly not
yes it does it also causes hairy palms and you will go blind
probably and thnx coz i have probz like dat and think dis mite work coz i mastrb8 alot too!
dude, definitely you will not grow hair in your hands..but no i don`t think that is true.
Acne? No,... but you might have something on the baldness thing...;-)
    no
    Interesting question, guy.

I have to tell you, masturbation does not increase/release male hormones like you say. You can keep it up and don't feel like your are going to go bald, go blind, get acne, or go insane. They used to say that to keep us guys from enjoying ourselves. Don't believe it.

Your body will create whatever hormones it is going to create and that's it.

I'm bald, and my brother has a full head of hair. We both masterbated like crazy in our teens. He had acne, I didn't. Go figure. More likely, heredity and diet had more effect than pleasuring ourselves.

Keep asking questions and don't listen to old wives tales.

What could cause itching and hair loss in a cat?

It's NOT fleas, I use frontline on her, and have never seen evidence of fleas, no little black spots, no flea feces, not ever.

But around her neck she itches constantly, and has dug scabs, and the hair is getting very sparse, and looks like it's breaking off short as well.

she does not wear a collar of any kind, and is an indoor cat.

We recently moved to another state, and this has been going on since we moved.

What could be some causes? Anything I should do?What could cause itching and hair loss in a cat?
    could be allergies or mites.

either way, you need to go to a vet to be sure--- I bet it's mites and they are microscopic.

Actually, it just occurred to me that it could be the frontline. some animals are allergic, and besides that--- it's a pesticide, going into her bloodstream. gross.

I wouldn't put that stuff on my pets. What could cause itching and hair loss in a cat?
Could be eczema due to dry air or an allergy, could be another parasite that burrows in the skin, she may have rolled in or on something that's triggered it (cats can be allergic to certain household cleaning products, the previous owners of the house may have used some product you don't)). Best to get her checked by vet.
i think the best answer is to go to a vet quick it might be somthing big and u dont now about it so plz 4 your safty and your cats go to the vet hairloss is ussally from toching her alot and not feeding her the right foods like u feed her chikin nugets and always give her milk and water but if she is iching thats because of flees lol and she is just scraching like i am as i am writing its just life !!
i hav the same problem with my cat..he licks his tail and thighs until fur starts comin out.. it was only recently has he started it. i tried using medicated soap for skin problems. i hope i hav an answer too...

Does the depo -provera shot really cause acne, weight gain, hair loss and depression? ?

I'm thinking of using the shot or an IUD and I'm comparing the side effects of the two i heard with an IUD it can get embedded in the uterus and can slip out what ever birth control i use i know its between these two. Please help me and give opinions on which is better thanks!Does the depo -provera shot really cause acne, weight gain, hair loss and depression? ?
I have actually used both, so I can tell you my experiences.

I hated Depo. I gained a ton of weight while on it (over 40lbs) even though I maintained a healthy diet and exercise. 70% of all users gain some weight, 50% gain significant amounts. My skin broke out horribly. I had really bad mood swings, depression, and migraines. I had one period every 3 months, but I was never sure when it would come. My hair fell out in handfuls, and I lost my sex drive completely. Even more concerning is the new research that has found Depo seriously deplete bone density levels... and this side effect is permanent.

I have been using the IUD Mirena (the one with the hormones) for over 2 years now and I love it. I haven't had a period since it was inserted. I know this concerns some people, but only 20% of all users stop mensturating. The rest have shorter and lighter periods. It is the most effective birth control on the market. Expulsion (the IUD coming out) is very rare, but more likely if you have never had a child before. If this is your case, you may want to discuss this with your doctor. It is still very rare, though. Having the IUD get imbedded is also very rare, and that has more to do with the insertion. If your doctor has inserted this birth control before and knows what he or she is doing, you really don't have much to worry about.

Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.Does the depo -provera shot really cause acne, weight gain, hair loss and depression? ?
i just got off of the depo shot, i never had acne before and while on it i developed acne so bad it would hurt to touch my face. i am now on the nuva ring which is just like the pill except it is inserted and left in for 3 weeks and then taken out to have a period. i hope this helps you!

Well you could look up I U D on the web or and ask your doctor, but from the info you gave me you might want to try using the depo provera shot might be better it does not cause acne, hair loss, depression or extreme weight gain if you eat correctly. Talk with your doctor mention that you're interested in using this see if you will be able to.

    GOOD LUCK

You do gain weight using the depo shot, but its the most effective b.c.

I used to take depo, I gained weight but I discontinued using the shot. I eventually lost the weight. This was 8 yrs ago. I am 34 now and I have a 15 y/o son.

What form of birth control am I on now? Nothing.
Yes, the depo shot causes weight gain. Sometimes significant weight gain. It is very effective to prevent pregnancy. The IUD has been around forever and has a great success rate also. I would go IUD if I were you.
I dont no about the other symptoms but it causes weight gain!!! I have several family members and friends thats on it or been on it all of them pretty much picked up weight except for like one of them!!!

WHO KNOWS MAYBE YOU WILL BE LUCK AND NOT GAIN ANY!

Does head and shoulders shampoo contain ingredients to cause hair loss?

which shampoos cause hair loss or thinning hair?Does head and shoulders shampoo contain ingredients to cause hair loss?
'; I too have had that happen. I used Head %26amp; Shoulders for almost 8 years and my hair on top thinned out along with the rest of my hair, to the point I was going bald it seemed.

Then I stopped using it and the thickness returned along the sides and back, but the top near the forehead and crown has still not recovered and was the most affected.

I鈥檝e heard of other stories as well of people losing hair to Head %26amp; Shoulders, including my barber (back in the 60s when they had an industrial strength formula for dandruff and his hair never grew back) and my ex-g/f鈥檚 dad started losing his hair because of it, but he only used it for 3 years and it eventually grew back over the course of a year or so.

    I suggest stopping use of the shampoo, or if you are using it daily, use it once a week instead like you would any other medical dandruff shampoo. Head %26amp; Shoulders is definitely not for daily use.';

Sounds like you have post partum shedding.DOES EPIDURAL INJECTIONS Cause hair loss...am 21 and losing hair?
It shouldn't. However, if you had an epidural because of a pregnancy, the pregnancy can cause hair loss. It's a combination of the hormones and the uncommon utilization of vitamins and minerals in your diet (they're being used for baby stuff, instead of you stuff). A simple vitamin geared towards pregnant women ought to help, even if you've already given birth.

well, your testosterone may beused more efficiently, in your body tha in other asians, facial hair is stimulated by the testosterone but it actually grows because of fat in you skin whcich may be tied to your acne, as for prostate cancer, there are many other thing that can start it, high testosterone levels are one of them but you should just get scannned to make sure, go see the doctor
You worry to much. No you do not have to much DHT.

    Depends on age.

You are about average. How big you will get depends on testosterone levels. The higher the more it grows. For example. Boys with micropenia (very small penis) are treated by putting testosterone cream on the penis or by injections. Do not do this without a doctor. The best thing is to eat healthy. Fruit and veggies. Pumpkin seed and Pistachios as well as other things raise testosterone levels.

Easy on the sweets. No smoking! How big you get pepends on how big your father and your mothers father is. That is the genetics that controls how high your testosterone level will get.
I don't think there's any link to cancer. But I have read that Asians actually have the lowest rates of prostate cancer because of their diet (Nutrition). To prevent prostate cancer, just eat a healthy diet with lots of vegetables and soy. (some people say masturbation is healthy for the prostate too =) )

It's probably genetics(hair, acne). Or it happened before you were even born if you were exposed to alot of testosterone in your mommy's womb. I think, but not sure exactly, that testosterone levels can be checked by a blood test.

Hold out your fingers and check if your ring finger is longer than the index. Yes means higher testosterone.

Try not to eat too much red meat, especially beef, I believe beef boosts testosterone levels. For the acne, good hygiene and not eating greasy or fatty foods (for some people) is the only thing to prevent it not counting medication and acne creams. If you must drink milk, stay away from skim. I know for us women, it can cause outbreaks...(Health and Fitness)
James H Yes it can cause baldness, and prostate cancer.Testosterone is naturally converted in to estrogen, when to much is produced which causes hair loss. Chances are your fine, and the only true way to be sure if your DHT is high you need blood test. Good Luck!

Would Anemia cause period absences and hair loss ?

Yes, it can cause both of those symptoms. I was dealing with Anemia a year ago. I don't remember having period absences, but I had the hair loss. I was prescribed Iron supplements and it gradually fixed the problem.Would Anemia cause period absences and hair loss ?
Yes it does. Coldness too. I dont know how old you are, but speak with your Mom if you're young. You need a vitamin with iron in it, cause iron is hard to get from diet alone.

Simple blood tests confirm anemia, a little skin prik on the finger.Would Anemia cause period absences and hair loss ?
Yes anemia could cause hair loss.

Eat handful of sprouts, black sesame seeds soaked in water in the night.

Get regular coconut hair oil massages.
yes, anemia can cause both of these things, but so can a number of other conditions... see your doctor.

I have heard that hair straighteners and fixed sprays are causing hair loss, so how to get hair styles ?? ?

i have heard that hair straightners and fixing sprays are causing hair loss and i have been using both of them for a long time because they gave my hair a great look i can't just abandon them that easlly i'm a long haired guy and my hair are curly this things gave me the shiny straight hair i love doctors just tells us to abondon these things without giving us another solution on how to get a beautiful hair style without having hair loss so how can i have a beautiful straight hair without being in the danger of hair loss.I have heard that hair straighteners and fixed sprays are causing hair loss, so how to get hair styles ?? ?
They make protective hair serums and replenishing shampoos for a reason. Unless your hair is already super thin or you can see that it's thinning, I wouldn't worry about it. You can always stop the straightening for a while, or try different hair treatments to keep it healthy. Your hair can look great and still be healthy, just take care of it. =]I have heard that hair straighteners and fixed sprays are causing hair loss, so how to get hair styles ?? ?
The only reason it would accompany hair loss, would be if you are rough with straightening.

I find, personally, if I do not use caution and am not gentle, my straightener will pull my hears out easily.

So just be gentle when you use a straightener.

I do not recommend using sprays where the ingredients in it mostly include synthetic chemicals. I use one it has olive oil in itm from SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY. It's around 5 bucks, when you come out of the shower, squeeze a dime sized ammount in hands, rub together, and spread evenly throughout your hair. It protects damage from UV rays and is very moisturizing.

P.S: Do not rub on roots! B/C it is oil.

    GOODLUCK!*
